本书从高级应用型人才培养的总体目标出发，结合学生的实际英语运用能力，力求向学生提供所需要的专业英语知识和技能，培养学生在经济领域中使用英语的能力。由10个单元组成，每个单元包括两篇课文和一篇时事新闻。课后有配套练习，书后有练习参考答案。
刘艳芳，女，中南财经政法大学外国语学院教师，副教授，管理学博士。主要研究方向为英语教学、跨文化交际、管理沟通。曾在《湖北大学学报》、《学术探索》、《上海翻译》等核心期刊上发表论文十余篇；主持完成省、市、厅级各类科研项目6项，参与国家和教育部项目4项。 冯娅，女，现在中南财经政法大学任教，副教授，本科就读于华中师范大学英语系，获英语语言学士学位，硕士、博士就读于武汉大学经济与管理学院，获经济学博士学位。研究方向为语言经济学、跨文化商务沟通、企业文化、产业经济学等。分别在《江汉论坛》、《湖北社会科学》、《财会通讯》等期刊上发表跨文化沟通和经济学论文数篇；参与《经济英语》本科教材及《教师用书》的编写以及《西方经济思想史》等经济学教材的编写；主持省部级课题和省教育厅纵向课题，同时也主持并参与了《基于风险导向的公司国际业务审计管控研究》课题十多项。
